Hi there, I am Dennis. I was the lead coordinator for last year’s GIMP, and it was a whirlwind of activity! My main gig was keeping the communication flowing between student interns and higher-ups. I was on the go non-stop, ensuring all the program tasks were done right. This included setting up meetings, calling lots of folks about schedules, handling complaints, brainstorming fixes, and meeting up with key partners face-to-face, among other things.

The first week on-site was smooth sailing. We split our six awesome interns, Philip Owusu, Sharon Mettle, Delores Wilson, Predaney Listowell, Linda Asimaniwaa, and Amakwei Engmann, into two teams. Listowell, Linda, and Engmann rocked it at the Korlebu Eye Centre, while Sharon, Delores, and Philip held it down at Medstar Health Consult. We all met up at the Korlebu Total Filling Station at 9 a.m. A couple of interns got a bit lost and missed the meeting, but no biggie.

On days two to four, everyone was at the Medstar Health Consult. Team two got their turn at the Korlebu Eye Centre on a different day. All six interns were eager to learn and grow.

Our rockstar instructors were Madam Felicia Dawson (at Korlebu) and Pastor Fred (at Medstar). Despite their busy schedules, they jumped in to teach and train our interns, keeping them engaged with discussions and assignments all week. Madam Felicia even went out on a limb to give the interns some hands-on experience.

In a nutshell, being the lead coordinator for GIMP last year was a game-changer, and I couldn’t wait to see what was next. Goalpha Global’s GIMP program was a game-changer, giving young people a taste of their dream careers before college. It was a chance for students to learn from the pros in their field and get a solid grasp on what they wanted to do in the future. Exciting stuff!
